ResourceSmart Schools is an award-winning Victorian Government program that assists schools to embed sustainability in everything they do.  Schools minimise waste, save energy and water, promote biodiversity and take action on climate change to benefit their school and community.
 
Managed by Sustainability Victoria, ResourceSmart Schools provides practical support to reduce resource use and make cost savings, integrate sustainability into the curriculum and share learnings beyond the school gate.

Mildura West is an accredited 5 star school under the AuSSI - Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative, originally designed by the Gould League and CERES Environmental Park. The program has provided Professional Development and customised consultancy to assist us develop operational practices integrated with a sustainable curriculum.

The Program over the years has offered a holistic education program on sustainability for schools. It consists of a core module'Becoming a Sustainable School' and four modules that aim to decrease waste and litter produced by the school, reduce energy consumption of the school, reduce water consumption of the school and to increase biodiversity in the grounds.

Currently Sustainability Victoria is taking over this program and will now have a name change to ResourceSmart Schools. We will keep you posted about the changes to this program.

Mildura West's enviromental program is based on the four cornerstones of waste, energy, water and biodiversity.
