Active Transport

Mildura West Primary School encourages children and their families to be active by walking or riding bicycles and scooters to school. As well as the obvious health benefits, this reduces the traffic congestion outside the school at the beginning and the end of the school day.

Children who ride bicycles or scooters to school can lock their vehicles in the designated bike area. Children and parents are not permitted to ride their bike or scooter in the school grounds. They must walk their bike or scooter from the school gate to the lock up area. Helmets must be worn at all times when riding bikes and scooters to and from school. These rules also apply to adults using active transport. We thank you for your cooperation in modelling safe behaviours for our students.

Dropping off / Picking up your Children

Front of the school

Remember to take care where you park when dropping children off or collecting them from school. Be aware of the dangers of turning and pulling out from the kerb when so many children are outside the school grounds. Parking restrictions apply in Ninth Street and are displayed on the street parking signs. It is illegal to double park or park on the crossing in Ninth Street during certain times. The 5-minute parking on Ninth street must be adhered to, otherwise it becomes congested.

Back of the school - car park

Please take care entering & leaving the car park. All cars are to give way to children crossing the entry and the exit of the car park.

Traffic Rules

Mildura Rural City Council regularly patrol this area. Please adhere to traffic regulations and signs.       School Crossings

School Crossings are located on Ninth Street at the front entrance of the school, and Tenth Street near Cypress Ave. These crossings are manned by Mildura Rural City Council staff between the hours of 8.15 – 9.00am and 3.00 – 4.00pm. It is recommended that all students are supervised when crossing the roads.
